My Mistletoe
This piece was written in response to the Church of Latter Day Saint's position on California's Proposition 8, the marriage equality law. I had the opportunity to perform this piece in a Church of Latter Day Saint's temple shortly after the passage of the proposition. I believe that because the music is so soothing and the lyrics are about people loving each other like "...bulbs on a Christmas Tree" people in the audience missed much of the message. Some did not. We received enthusiastic applause. I was quite pleased.
There are two recordings of this piece: one with Christine Noble and the other with Leslie Collie singing. Clovice Lewis plays cello on both recordings.
